Exploring Career Community

Your career will include many opportunities for exploration – before and after you graduate. This is exciting! The University of Richmond is an outstanding place to discover new possibilities. If you’re wide open to a wide range of experiences…you’re in the right place! If you’re working to discern subtle nuances among subfields in your chosen area of interest…right place! If you’re somewhere in between…you get the idea. Here are a few tips–

  • Embrace curiosity. Staying open-minded and curious will supercharge your discovery process. Because curiosity is also among the top qualities that people look for in potential colleagues, it will also help you make positive impressions along the way.
  • Talk with people about your interests. Career development is a team sport. Talk with friends, classmates, professors, alumni, and family members about what’s on your mind. And ask questions about what’s on theirs!
  • Pay attention to your internal motivators. What kinds of projects and activities give you energy? Make you happy? Cause you to lose track of time? Make this self-awareness part of your discovery process.

This area of our virtual center focuses on broad exploration. Join the Exploring Career Community to receive our emails about upcoming events and workshops as well as a wide range of on-campus recruiting, job and internship opportunities.
