Wellness Courses
Career Services offers two courses that fulfill students’ wellness requirements for graduation. Students can register through BannerWeb during course registration.
Career Exploration: Wellness 090
This course is geared toward first- and second-year students. Students who complete Career Exploration will:
- Learn about and practice using Career Services resources, in person and online;
- Develop self-awareness through use of personality and values assessment tools;
- Gain the skills necessary to create well-written resumes and cover letters;
- Learn the basics of using LinkedIn;
- Develop strategies for considering and selecting a major(s);
- Understand the purpose of internships and know how to find them;
- And complete an action plan that includes unique next steps in the career development process.
Life & Career After UR: Wellness 090
The course is geared toward juniors and seniors. Students who complete Life and Careers will:
- Learn about and practice using Career Services tools and resources, in person and online;
- Increase self-awareness through personality assessment exercises;
- Obtain the skills necessary to create tailored, well-written resumes and cover letters;
- Develop strategies for maximizing use of LinkedIn to manage a professional network;
- Practice interviewing skills and learn about different types of interviews;
- Learn about work culture and generational differences;
- Learn about budgeting, personal finance, benefits, and negotiating a job offer;
- And complete an action plan with detailed next steps for the career development process.
