All undergraduate and SPCS students are required to have their resume reviewed through one of our Resume Ready options before applying to the many exciting job, internship, and externship opportunities within Handshake.

OPTION 1: VMock

VMock is a 24-7 online resume-review tool, that leverages data-science, machine learning, and natural language processing to provide instant personalized feedback on your resume based on criteria gathered from employers and global best practices.

You must score an 80 or above in VMock to fulfill the requirement. You have 10 tries to get your score to 80 or above, but if you have any questions or would like to discuss your resume at any point, please meet with a Career Services staff member.

OPTION 2: Chronological Resume Rubric

First, create or update your resume using our Chronological Resume Rubric.

Second, meet with a Career Services Staff Member to review your resume. Here’s how:

  • Stop-by our drop-ins advising, Monday - Friday from 2 - 4 p.m. (no appointment needed), or
  • Make an appointment with a Career Services staff member

Why are we requiring this process?

As the job market and graduate school admission processes become increasingly competitive, it is of paramount importance that University of Richmond students position themselves for career success.

I'm not an undergraduate or SPCS student, so does this apply to me?

Alumni and MBA students are eligible to apply for opportunities advertised in Handshake without completing the Resume Ready requirement. although they are encouraged to have Career Services review their resume or participate in a workshop. To find out how, call 804-289-8547.

What are the resources available to help me with my resume?

Career Services offers many resume workshops throughout the semester. To view a full list of upcoming workshops, please visit Handshake. You can also stop-by during drop-in hours, Monday through Friday, 2 - 4 p.m., to talk with a Career Services staff member.
