The Ecology and Conservation Organization, serving the University of Richmond, is committed to conducting club programs and activities to promote ecology and conservation on campus and in the community and enhancing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of members.
The organization accomplishes its mission by:
-Providing opportunities for improved communication among individual members locally and with other student chapters, chapters, and The Wildlife Society.
-Fostering a sense of belonging and providing opportunities for approved communication among members, other student organizations, faculty, researchers, and professionals
-Augmenting the educational opportunities for students interested in ecology, conservation, and related fields at the University of Richmond
-Preparing members for future endeavors such as graduate school, internships, and jobs in wildlife biology, conservation, and management.
-Fostering ethical and legal conduct in research and practice.
-Fostering campus and community engagement about wildlife and ecology issues.
Membership benefits include participation in research projects related to ecology and conservation on campus and in the city or Richmond. We also will have guest speakers that are in the ecology and conservation fields. Members also enjoy the benefits of being a member in chapters of the Ecological Society of America, and Wildlife Society along with updates on jobs, internships, and graduate school
UR ECO’s purpose is to connect students and faculty interested in topics related to ecology, conservation, and biodiversity. The club also allows members to engage with experimental opportunities throughout campus and the City of Richmond and become aware of internships, graduate school, and job opportunities related to these topics. We will also connect with professional organizations for webinars and attending conferences related to the topic.
